More Michigan

In yet another example of the broken partnership, Michigan State Legislators draft a plan for a re-do on their primary without consulting with counties. Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett takes them to task saying:

It is disheartening that Municipal and County Clerks, who will be held responsible for conducting another primary election, have not been consulted for their input on the feasibility and timing of the proposed election and the impact on their respective offices.

The election process involves a series of very stringent deadlines that are statute driven and must be met to assure everything is prepared and working accurately. To sandwich a proposed "do over election" between a May and August election would seriously put both elections in harms way.
